How are blogs used?

Blogs are used in many different ways. There is no such thing as 'a' blog. It would be the same as saying that we have 'a' book (). Blogs can provide a means of having conversations with people who have similar interests in an organisation or from around the world e.g. an industrial designers blog. One blogger said that publishing to an Internet blog was like writing an email with the cc. to the world.

With the advent of microblogs, many bloggers switched tools. In 2007 there were predictions of the death of the blog. However, what seems to have occurred is that now blogs are seen to be the tool for thoughtful extended writing and the social forms of blogs have moved to both microblogging and social networking tools.

There has been a further evolution of blogs. Originally blogs were written by one person. Now there are many blogs that are written by editorial teams.
